Sterling Silver Buddha & Lotus Necklace
Measuring 1" high and 3/4" across
The teachings of the Enlightened One throughout Asia and the world comprises two main strands: the Theravada and the Mahayana. The former mainly in India and southern Asia, the latter in China, Tibet, Japan and Northern Asia.
This elegant calligraphic representation of the character for Buddha has been carefully copied from a Chinese engraved glass amulet.
On the reverse is the symbol of the Lotus, a blossom revered in many cultures for its purity, nut none less than Buddhism, where Shakyamuni himself sits enthroned upon the Lotus.
In nature the flower emerges from stagnant and murky waters, yet produces a blossom of delicacy and perfection, a metaphor for the struggle to achieve enlightenment.
Comes with an 18" sterling silver chain (different from the one pictured)
